ACP Applied Products provides and installs chip seal surface dressing to assist with pavement preservation and performance. A chip seal surface dressing is recommended in three circumstances:

• where requirements for texture and skid resistance are of importance
• where a road surface needs sealing against ingress of water
• where further disintegration of pavement needs to be arrested

When considering chip seal for texture and skid resistance, know that two factors are at play: micro-texture and macro-texture. ACP Applied Products knows that the right chip seal for the job will address both micro- and macrotexture issues.

• Microtexture, or the texture of the individual stone used, provides grip and skidding resistance at all speeds.
• Macrotexture, or the overall texture of the road, is important where higher speeds and wet weather are concerned. In macrotexture, water is removed from the tire and road surfaces.
